Articles / Classic Car Rust Prevention
Stopping your cherished classic car from rusting away is a serious challenge especially in Scotland.
It may have beautiful polished paintwork on the outside but behind the scenes it could be a different story. Often the car body was spot welded together then the outside was painted with no thought given to hidden structure. The sills on many old cars act as drains and often had no rust prevention at all. Inside doors are often the same along with many other rust prone areas.
So if you are thinking about buying a classic car you should give it some thought. Many people keep their cars garaged but often there is water lying inside hidden panels and rust sandwiches around the shell so unless you are only going out on dry days you will need to protect your car. Some cars have spent their lives garaged and dry still looking good ,but paint and sealants are old and perished and put back into daily use the classic bodywork can start to decay with alarming speed.
There are many rust prevention systems available like waxoil, zeibart and dinitrol and oil all will help you in the fight against the classic owners arch enemy.
After many years cutting off corroded body work often on cars that have had these treatments we have learned what works where and what does not. We offer complete oiling and waxing service from ,just give us a call to discuss your individual requirement or to book an appointment
